Guest Photographer feature:
“Discover Moscow through Andrey Ilyin’s Eyes.”
"I put together my first spherical panorama in 2004 and was completely captivated by the possibilities of this kind of photography."
Andrey was born in Kazakhstan and came to Moscow in 1986 where he graduated from the Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology before becoming a freelance photographer. He has worked on assignments for the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune as well as a variety of other institutions. Thanks to his experience in digital photography and processing of images Andrey quickly learned to make high quality panoramas. He has made a big series of panoramas (more than 80) for a multimedia disc about the Kremlin. From the very beginning though his work had an “ethnographic” bent, focusing on daily life rather than tourist sites.
He worked with a variety of museums, such as the Shchusev State Museum of Architecture, State History Museum, and photographed for the automobile industry, shooting panoramas for the auto.mail.ru site. He also creates images for the medical and hospitality industries. A number of his panoramas have been published on the Russia Today site, rt.com.
